EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AS A STEP TOWARDS LANGUAGE ADAPTATION

Daily hard work in the classroom gives tangible results: gaining the language knowledge foreign listeners reinforce it in educational speech situations. But during daily classes, an imitation of real communication takes place. Therefore extracurricular activities occupy such an important place in language teaching.

Teachers of the Language Training Department of NURE conducted several integrated lessons with foreign listeners. «A fun walk to the Sarzhin Yar», during which it was possible to combine interesting regional information using active language vocabulary with an unforgettable walk in the open air. The next day, the students had a great opportunity to get acquainted with flora and fauna, have lots of fun and live communication outside the classroom during the «Photo Quest at the Zoo» trip. After that, the listeners together with their teachers visited an unusual exhibition of graphics by famous Kharkiv artist Hamlet Zynkovskyi – a bright representative of street art in Ukraine. The exhibition is being held at the contemporary art center – «YermilovCenter». A series of graphic sketches of the past year are combined with concise philosophical statements. The listeners were able to view the dialogue of two languages – the image and the word.

On such visual informative lessons the new necessary vocabulary is actively received by students, they easily switch to a variety of activities and the classes themselves are of a relaxed emotional nature, lively and fun. The mobile form of classes not only expand vocabulary but also makes it possible to repeat the grammar, helps relieve psychological stress, stimulates the informative interest of listeners and contributes to their successful adaptation.
